MSTR STAG is a luxury brand that combines subtle elegance with sustainability. We craft meticulously designed, timeless pieces using high-quality, environmentally responsible materials. We embrace simplicity and enduring aesthetics, creating versatile garments for style enthusiasts who value quality that lasts over fleeting trends. MSTR STAG designs complement rather than dictate personal style, offering genuine comfort while enhancing the wearer’s existing wardrobe.
Quality over Quantity
Our focus is on stylistic, high-quality garments because this approach encourages you to invest in your wardrobe. Investment pieces reduce the “disposable fashion” mindset that contributes to textile waste. We believe that if you buy fewer, better garments, it helps reduce the 92 million tons of textile waste generated annually.
Tested for Durability
We rigorously test the quality of our garments for 6 months to 2 years, ensuring their longevity. Longer-lasting garments stay out of landfills and in your closet. Extended product lifecycles are crucial for reducing fashion’s environmental footprint.
Zero-Waste Sample
We do not destroy any of our samples (unlike many other companies). All of our samples are either donated or sold to our clients. This allows us to combat the industry practice of destroying unsold merchandise and allows our clients to have a unique piece from our collection.
Deadstock Utilization
We have embarked on a new journey, especially with newer fabrics, incorporating deadstock fabrics into our designs. This gives new life to materials that would otherwise be wasted. Reclaiming existing resources rather than demanding new production helps us support a sustainable fashion house and our clients, who see the value of materials that get a second life.
Pre-Order Strategy
Initially, we started with limited production runs (50 units or less) to prevent excess inventory. We now realize that this may still cause more waste than we anticipated, so we have transitioned to a pre-order model. This significantly reduces overproduction, reduces resources, energy, and water usage in manufacturing, and allows us to understand more of what our clients want. Overproduction is a significant environmental concern, and we want to be a part of the solution.
Wrap it Right
We know that packaging is something that significantly contributes to waste, and we did something about it. First, we use plantable tags and stationery that grow into wildflowers or herbs—a little reminder of how we support the planet. We then decided to use the most recyclable materials for shipping, cardboard, one of the world’s top 3 most recyclable materials. Then we pack our garments in the instantly dissolvable “invisible” bag. We are also experimenting with other packaging ideas, such as the art of furoshiki, repurposing part of your packaging for a useful bag. These innovations reduce plastic waste in the fashion supply chain.
Greener Miles Ahead
By thoughtfully analyzing our carbon impact across all aspects of our operations, we ensure that our sustainability commitment remains consistent from design studio to your doorstep. We make deliberate choices that allow us to deliver luxury while treading lightly on the planet. Adopted a “digital-first” approach for supplier and partner meetings when possible. Combined multiple business objectives into a visit to reduce the frequency of travel. Prioritized train travel over air for continental journeys, if possible. Utilized electric vehicles for local transportation at our destinations (Lyft, Uber, etc). We select direct flights rather than connections to minimize takeoffs and landings, choose carbon-friendly routes, and make it a priority to book mostly with the most sustainable airlines according to Sustainability Magazine.
Kaizen Strategy
While we acknowledge we’re still on our sustainability journey, our pledge is continued intentional progress toward creating products that are both desirable and designed to last a lifetime – the ultimate form of sustainability. Recently, we attended the Functional Fabric Fair to demonstrate our commitment to learning more about sustainability. We are not perfect, but we are consistently improving. Education and adaptation are best practices in achieving sustainable fashion
